The Batesville High School boys soccer team suffered an overtime loss at South Dearborn. The Bulldogs battled the South Dearborn Knights to a draw that was ultimately decided by a penalty shootout. An early defense deflection - own goal put the Bulldogs behind in the first half, but Simon Berkemeier quickly answered with a powerful shot to tie the game. After a lightning delay in the second half, the Bulldogs returned with increased intensity, creating numerous scoring opportunities, according to coach Kyle Hunteman. In the first overtime, an assist from Ronan Post to Berkemeier gave the Bulldogs the lead, but South Dearborn responded shortly after with a goal from a corner kick, tying the game 2-2. Despite several strong shots on goal by Batesville in the second overtime period, neither team could break the tie. The match proceeded to a penalty shootout, where both teams' first five shooters were unsuccessful in determining a winner, which led to an extended round. In a hard-fought ending, the Bulldogs were defeated in the second round of penalty kicks.
