The Batesville boys tennis team travelled to Columbus North High School on Saturday to participate in the Columbus North Invitational. The Bulldogs were able to finish two matches before the third match was cancelled due to inclement weather. The Bulldogs finished 0-2 on the day as a team, but played some great tennis across the board, according to coach Mitch Taylor. Many three set matches led to several opportunities for wins throughout the day, but the Bulldogs were not able to capitalize enough times to get any team wins. The first match of the day was a 1-4 loss against the Providence Pioneers with the lone point coming from Jevan Smith at No. 2 singles. In the second match of the day, the Bulldogs took on host Columbus North. Ultimately, they lost 2-3 with 4 of the 5 matches played coming down to just a few points at each position. Jevan Smith (No. 2 singles) and Carson Meyer (No. 3 singles) came away with wins for the Bulldogs at their positions. The Bulldogs move to 9-4 (4-1 EIAC) on the season moving into the final couple weeks of the regular season.
