The Carroll girls basketball team opened its season with a gritty effort on the road, falling to Columbia City 54–44 in a game defined by second-half swings. Carroll held a narrow 23–22 lead at halftime, thanks to strong early scoring from senior Ella George, who finished with a team-high 20 points. The Chargers showed poise and balance in the first half, with Myers adding 10 points and Hoch contributing 6. However, Columbia City surged in the third quarter, outscoring Carroll 25–9 to seize control. Despite a determined fourth-quarter push, the Chargers couldn’t close the gap. Lanning (3), Gibbs (4), and Booker (1) rounded out the scoring for Carroll, who will look to build on the positives from their season debut as they prepare for upcoming matchups.
