Cascade comes into the game 0-1 with an opening loss to 2A #2 Triton Central Tigers 13-42. Beech Grove is coming off a week 1 loss to 1A #1 Indianapolis Lutheran Saints 0-50. One of the two teams will pick up their first win of the season this Friday Night. Both teams face two of the top quarterbacks in the state as well as two of the best teams in their classes. Beech Grove leads the series 3-1, but the Cadets picked up their 1st ever victory over the Hornets in 2022 28-13 at Cascade Memorial Sports Complex. The last trip out to Beech Grove came in 2021. Cascade would fall to the Hornets 6-28. CADET NOTES Cascade will look to lock-in in on both sides of the football this week and fix several mental mistakes that cost the Cadets severely in week #1. The Cascade offense is coming off a 298 yard output with 239 coming on the ground attack. Offensively, Cascade will have to clean up pre-snap penalties and turnovers to be successful Friday Night. Four Cadet running backs rushed for 50+ yards in the game vs Triton Central and SO Toby Savni and SR Damien Appleby were able to find the end zone. Defensively, the Cadets had trouble stopping one of the top quarterbacks in the state giving up 397 yards through the air and 97 on the ground. Cascade would be out gained 298 to 498. SO Brady Trebley gets the nod under center for the Cadets. Trebley completed 57% of his passes for 59 yards in week one on just seven attempts averaging 14.6 yards/completion. He looks to settle in and lead the no-huddle wing-t attack for the second straight year. FR Rhyder Williams will serve as the back-up quarterback for the Cadets. Rhyder got his feet wet Monday Night vs Triton Central JV completing 2-3 passes for 31 yards. Multiple running backs will look to carry the rock this week. SR Damien Appleby, SO Toby Savini, SO Dayton Mink and SR Caiden Clements all rushed for 50+ yards and averaged 5+ yards per carry in week 1. Clements finished the game leading the team in rushing with 69 yards, but Appleby and Savini were able to break through to the end zone late in the game for their first touchdowns of the year. JR Daemen Mason and SO JT Roshong will look to add in their hands in the pass attack this year. Mason was able to haul in one catch for 12 yards in vs Triton Central. SR Brayden Cartmel, SR Caiden Clements, and FR Trent Austin will look to be both physical blockers and pass catchers at the tight end position. Brayden Cartmel was able to haul in 2 catches for 27 yards week one. JR Duncan White, JR Josiah Murrain, JR Owen Hargis, SR Fox Edwards, SR Jacob Potts and JR Bryce Hofing will all look to anchor the front 5 in the heavy ground attack offense. Last week, the front line was able to pave the way with 239 yards on the ground with the running backs averaging 5.7 yards/rush. In 2022, the offensive line led the way to 4,300 yards and 49 touchdowns for the Cadets. QB: Trebley - Wing: Savini - Wing: Appleby - Fullback: Mink - Wide Receiver: Mason - Tight End: Nohren - Left Tackle: Potts - Left Guard: Hargis - Center: D. Look for JR Owen Hargis, JR Bryce Hofing, FR Wyatt Minardo, SO Brandon White to back-up the front 4 for the Cadets. SR Brayden Cartmel, SR Jacob Potts, SR Damien Appleby, SR Caiden Clements will look to anchor the 2nd level defense. SO JT Roshong, SO Marcus Hobson, SO Toby Savini will look to bounce back this week after giving up 397 yards through the air attack in week one. Roshong and Hobson each had a pair of interceptions from the last year and will look to come in with a lot of confidence in 2023. Marcus Hobson led the group with three total tackles last week.
