Cadets Start Fast, but #5 Scecina Finishes Strong

Cadets hosted #5 Indianapolis Scecina for Cascade Youth Football Night last Friday. Cascade came out swinging early on in the game on both sides of the football. Offense was able to move the ball methodically down the field and the defense stood tall get two 3 and outs early on in the game. At the 4:00 minute mark in the 1st quarter, Senior Liam Farmer broke through the line and shook off a would be tackler and raced to the end zone to take a 6-0 lead. Cadets would get a 4th down stop on the next drive to set the offense up with great field position. The offense found themselves on 4th down and weren't able to convert. Two plays later, the Crusaders would find a wide open receiver on a deep out route who took is 74 yards to take the lead 7-6. Cascade would drive all the way down to the 12 yard line where Freshman Brady Trebley would find Junior Logan Gibbs in the flat found wide open space to the end zone. The space closed quickly and a Crusader tackler would force a fumble and Scecina would take over at the 1 yard line. Crusadors would take a 14-6 lead later on in the drive converting a 3rd and 16 for an 80 yard touchdown pass. Cadets drove the field again, but would turn the ball over as time expired. Opening up the 2nd half, Scecina would impose themselves as the more dominant team. Scecina opened up the half with an 8 play 65 yard drive to take a 21-6 lead. Cadets would drive down to the 50 yard line, but would be denied on the 4th down and 2 play to give the ball back to the Crusader offense. Crusader offense would go on another long drive, 12 plays 50 yards and take a 28-6 lead on a rushing touchdown. Cascade would see progress the next drive taking the ball down to Scecina's 32 yard line, but Junior Damien Appleby was stripped by a Crusader defender. Scecina would go on to take a 34-6 lead on the ensuing drive. Cascade wouldn't find success in the second half until Senior Walker Van Ness forced a fumble and a Freshman Toby Savini recovery. On the next play from scrimmage, Freshman Brady Trebley would find Junior Logan Gibbs on a 34 yard touchdown pass to shrink the lead to 34-14. Cadets would go on to give up another long touchdown pass to bring the score 41-14 at the end of the game.
