Sectional Quarterfinals Preview; Greencastle Tiger Cubs at Cascade Cadets

Cadets open up Sectional 37 play this Friday Night against the Greencastle Tiger Cubs. GAME DETAILS Greencastle Tiger Cubs (4-5, 3-2) at Cascade Cadets (5-4, 3-4) Time: 7p.m., Friday October 21st, 2022 Location: Cascade High School, Clayton, IN Tickets: CASH ONLY at the Gate - $7 per ticket SETTING THE SCENE It will be the 47th time in the history of Cascade Football that they will take the gridiron against the Greencastle Tiger Cubs. Tiger Cubs lead the all-time series 26-20. Cascade is currently on a 3 game series losing streak to Greencastle. Greencastle and Cascade matched up last time in 2018 where the Tiger Cubs came out victorious 49-26. The last Cadets victory between the two teams came in 2015 when the Cadets traveled on the road to beat the Tiger Cubs 34-24. Last week, Cascade knocked off RItter 55-28, while Greencastle lossed their game on the road to North Putnam 34-28 in overtime. WEEK 9 RECAP Cascade traveled to take on Cardinal Ritter last Friday Night for the final ICC match-up of the season. Cascade would start slow, but outscore the Raiders 48-21 in the final three quarters. Cascade would win the game 55-28. Cascade was able to force four interceptions, while the offense managed to have 617 yards. Cadets have won five games in the regular season for the first time since 2013 and only second time since 2006. CADET NOTES Cascade comes into the IHSAA Sectional play on a two game win streak and hitting on all cylinders. The Cascade Offense has amassed a total of 3,410 yards overall and 2,771 on the ground averaging 6.5 yards/carry. Offensively, they use their Wing-T run attack to set the tempo and control the game. Defensively, the Cascade defense has come on strong at the right time. Cascade has forced 8 takeaways in the last three games. Cadets earned their 5th victory of the year after week 9 vs Cardinal Ritter. Cadets look to build on their end of the regular season success as they will take on the visiting Tiger Cubs Friday Night. Cadets are off to their best start since 2013 at 5-4. Trebley leads the offense under center for your Cadets. The FR quarterback has completed 59% for 624 yards and 7 touchdowns. SR Liam Farmer continues his record breaking season amassing 1,857 yards on the ground and 191 through the air. Farmer has found paydirt 28 times through the 9 contests. SO Damien Appleby and FR Toby Savini have combined for 726 yards on the ground and 2 touchdowns. The Cadets average 307.8 yards per game with their rushing attack. Cadets are anchored up front with an undersized, but fierce offensive line led by SR Walker Van Ness. Cadets will need to continue their run attack in order to be successful in the playoffs. Senior Liam Farmer and Walker Van Ness look to anchor down the defense against the Tiger Cubs offense which averages 230 yards/game. Through 9 weeks of the season SR Liam Farmer leads the team with 72 tackles with JR Brayden Cartmel at 57 tackles. Cadets have forced 8 takeaways over the last three games ending the season on a tear defensively. Cadets will need to tackle well and swarm to the football in order to be successful in the playoffs.
