Sectional 37 Semifinal; Cascade Cadets at Sullivan Golden Arrows

Cadets hit the road for their Sectional 37 Semifinal match-up with the Golden Arrows and teams stand at 6-4 on the season. GAME DETAILS Cascade Cadets (6-4, 3-4) at Sullivan Golden Arrows (6-4, 3-2) Time: 7p.m., Friday October 28th, 2022 Location: Sullivan High School, Sullivan, IN (902 N Section St) Tickets: CASH ONLY at the Gate - $7 per ticket Live Stream Link: https://www.ihsaatv.org/Sullivan/?B=448642 SETTING THE SCENE It will be the 2nd time in the history of Cascade Football that they will take the gridiron against the Sullivan Golden Arrows. Cadets are 0-1 vs the Golden Arrows dropping the only game back in 2018 on the road for the WIC Championship 21-48. Cadets look to even that mark Friday Night as they will be on the road again. Cascade and Sullivan are 2-0 vs head to head opponents having played Greencastle and North Putnam. Cascade was victorious against North Putnam 40-21 and Greencastle 50-24, while Sullivan was victorious over Greencastle 38-0 and North Putnam 35-14. WEEK 10 RECAP Cascade took on Greencastle last Friday Night in the opening round of the IHSAA Sectional 37 play. Cascade would start slow and find themselves down at in the first half 7-17. But, the offense would find a groove and rattle of 43 straight points to finish the game. FR Brady Trebley passed for 181 yards and 3 touchdowns, while JR Damien Appleby finished with 101 and 1 touchdown on the ground. The Cadet defense was able to hold Greencastle to just 51 yards of offense in the second half and gave up one score. SR Devon Weigle led the defense with single game high for him at 11 tackles. Cadets topped Greencastle 50-24 to move onto the Sectional Semifinal match-up vs Sullivan. The sixth victory for the Cadets guaranteed them a winning record for the first time since 2013, when Cascade would finish 6-5. CADET NOTES Cascade will transition to the Sectional Semifinal game on a three game win streak and hitting on all cylinders. The offense has amassed a total of 3,827 yards overall and a new school record of 3,004 on the ground averaging 6.4 yards/carry. Offensively, they use their no huddle Wing-T run attack to set the tempo and control the game. Defensively, the Cascade defense has come on strong at the right time. Cascade has forced 10 takeaways in the last four games. Cadets earned their 6th victory of the year after week 10 vs Greencastle. Cadets look to continue their playoff push as they make the long drive down to play the Sullivan Golden Arrows. Cadets are off to their best start since 2013 at 6-4. Trebley leads the offense under center for your Cadets. The FR quarterback has completed 59% for 805 yards and 10 touchdowns. SR Liam Farmer has had a record breaking season amassing 1,902 yards on the ground and 201 through the air. Farmer found paydirt 29 times through the 10 contests. SO Damien Appleby, FR Toby Savini and FR Dayton Mink will look to step up within the offense. The three backs have combined for 921 yards on the ground and 5 touchdowns. The Cadets average 300.4 yards per game with their rushing attack. Cadets are anchored up front with an undersized, but fierce offensive line led by SR Walker Van Ness. Cadets will need to continue their run attack in order to be successful in the playoffs. JR Logan Gibbs and SO Josiah Murrain will return to play after missing last week's game vs Greencastle. The Cadets defense will be held to a tall task of stopping the Golden Arrows spread offense which averages 328 yards/game. Through 10 weeks of the season SR Liam Farmer leads the team with 80 tackles with JR Brayden Cartmel at 66 tackles. Cadets have forced 10 takeaways over the last four games. SR Devon Weigle, SR Walker Van Ness, JR Wyatt Nohren, and JR Brayden Cartmel anchor the defense and will be up to the task of commanding the defense. Cadets will need to tackle well and swarm to the football in order to be successful this week against a physical Sullivan football team.
