Team Effort Propels Cadets To Wins

The Cascade girls swim and dive team improved their record to 5-1 after a pair of wins last night against South Vermillion and International School. The Cadets and Wildcats of South Vermillion battled all night with the meet outcome determined by the final relay. The Cadets trailed going into the diving event. Divers Courtney Shostrand and London Moore finished 1-2 in the event to propel the cadets into a lead that they refused to give up. The Cadets had 6 girls post season best times during the meet. In the 200 free Isabelle Vieting finished 1st with McKenna Potters claiming the 3rd spot. The 200 IM saw Molly Goff get a solid 2nd place finish. In the 50 free event, Emma Phipps and Madison Goff nailed down a 2nd and 3rd. London Moore and Courtney Shostrand found the top of the podium with a 1st and 2nd place finish. Emma Phipps and Madison Goff went 2nd and 4th in the 100 fly. Taylor Trusty and Katianne Bolinger finished 1-2 in the 100 free event and Molly Goff and Lilly Lanphier got their 1-2 finish in the 500 free. McKenna Potters and Gabby Angelides finished 2-3 in the 100 backstroke and Isabelle Vieting and Alexa rounded out the individual events with a 4th and 6th place finish in the 100 breaststroke. The girls finished 2nd in the medley relay and 1st in both the 200 free and 400 free relay. The Cadets made the night a total team effort with all the swimmers and divers scoring points. Going forward the Cadets travel to Danville on Thursday for a meet against the warriors.
