SETTING THE SCENE Friday Night Lights take the Cadets on the road as Cascade travels 20 miles west to face the North Putnam Cougars in a game loaded with meaning. This isn’t just another Friday night, it's the team's first-ever Monon Athletic Conference match-up, and it comes against a longtime rival. What’s at stake? For Cascade, it’s about making history, setting the tone for a new era, and proving they belong among the top programs in the conference and state. Cadets will take their #3 in the state in the 3A polls, their highest ranking ever, on the road Friday Night. For North Putnam, it’s about defending home turf and sending a message that they are building off of last year's 7-4 season. Both teams bring a physical, hard-nosed style of football. Cascade will look to pound the rock out of their fast-paced, no-huddle Wing-T, pushing tempo and wearing down the Cougars with their ground game. North Putnam counters with their offense running through SR quarterback Christian Kramer on the ground and air. The game will come down to execution, toughness, and who can get stops on defense. Expect points.. Tons of points. So pack the stands and make the drive to Roachdale, IN the Cadets and Cougars are set to continue a rivalry and break in the newly formed Monon Athletic Conference. CADET NOTES Cascade opened the 2025 season with two statement wins over rival Monrovia in the Battle of I-70 and 4A #11 Danville Warriors, setting the tone with their trademark fast and physical style. Now the Cadets turn their attention to Week 3, where they’ll travel down State Road 36 to face off against the North Putnam Cougars. It’s the first conference matchup giving Cascade a chance to build momentum and build off their hot start. Senior quarterback Brady Trebley continues under center, commanding Cascade’s no-huddle Wing-T offense. Through the first two weeks of the season, Trebley has completed 23-21 for 294 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also has added 80 yards on the ground and 2 touchdowns. Last season, Trebley became the first 1,000-yard passer for Cascade since 2019, finishing with 1,114 yards through the air and 20 touchdowns, while adding 378 rushing yards and 8 more scores on the ground. He also has climbed the school record books, moving into 2nd all-time in career passing touchdowns (44) and 3rd all-time in career passing yards (2,958) passing Dylan Kottkamp. His 63.1% completion rate already stands as the best in Cadet history. Trebley is aiming to close out his Cadet career by chasing the top spot in career passing touchdowns, needing just 10 more to become Cascade’s all-time leader. Behind him, sophomore Luke Austin and freshman Mason Minner will provide depth in the quarterback room as the Cadets look toward the future. Brady Trebley Ranks in Career Passing History: Passing Yards (Career): 3rd (2,958) Passing TDs (Career): 2nd (44) Completions (Career): 4th (175) Completion % (Career): 1st (63.1%) Cascade heads into Week 3 against North Putna with a four-headed rushing attack that can strike on any play. Last week against Danville, senior Dayton Mink rushed 17 times for 80 yards, while senior Toby Savini carried 6 times for 56 yards and 1 touchdown. The group rushed for a total of 236 yards and just under 6 yards per rush attempt. JR Lucas Farmer broke off a 47 yard touchdown rush to ice the week two game. Mink and Savini have already surpassed 2,000 career rushing yards, giving Cascade a dynamic and experienced duo in the backfield. Senior Marcus will take the snaps at left wing, while junior Lucas Farmer will rotate in at running back adding versatility to the offense. This group has the ability to make big plays on every snap, a key factor against a high scoring, Class 4A North Putnam team. Dayton Mink & Toby Savini Career Rushing Ranks: Rushing Yards: Savini 4th (2,387) / Mink 7th (2,170) Rushing Touchdowns: Savini 5th (25) / Mink 3rd (29) Yards Per Rush: Savini 1st (9.35) / Mink 5th (6.61) Cascade’s wide receiver group is deep and experienced this season, led by seniors Marcus Hobson, JT Roshong, and Delton Howrey, with junior Cooper Lievens adding additional depth. This group provides the Cadets with big-play potential on the edge in an otherwise run-heavy offense. Last week against Danville, the wide receivers had a quiet night through the air, but expect this group to continue stretching the field and creating opportunities against a North Putnam defense that allows 490 yards of offense per game. Cascade’s tight end group will play a key role in both the run and pass game, led by senior Braxton Lewis. Seniors Royce Bright and junior Trent Austin provide depth, with all three having significant playing experience since their freshmen seasons. Lewis, in particular, is a physical presence up front, consistently opening holes in the running game and providing a reliable target when called upon in the passing game. Lewis got on the board in the reception column last week with a 17 yard catch in the second quarter of the Danville game. The Cadets’ offensive line has been a major factor in Cascade’s success early on this season, helping the team average just under 400 yards per game. In 2025, the line features one senior, two juniors, and two sophomores, with only one returning starter. Senior Brody Duncan will lead the group, while juniors Wyatt Minardo and Dillon Setty anchor the tackle spots. Sophomores Eric Appleby and Gunner White will start at center and left guard. This unit paved the way last week against Danville, creating holes to rush for 236 yards against a physical front 8 from Danville. Expect this experienced and versatile group to continue creating running lanes for an explosive backfield as Cascade heads into their Week 3 match-up versus North Putnam. Cascade’s defensive front will look to control the line of scrimmage against the Cougar’s Power Run Game. Seniors Dominic Appleby and Brody Duncan return as starters for their final season, with junior Wyatt Minardo anchoring the interior. Senior Bentley McClellan, juniors Dillon Setty and Jacob Healy along with a handful of others, will rotate in to keep the front fresh. This group has set the physicality upfront, but has struggled to hold teams under 100 yards rushing. The defensive line will have to lock down this week and keep their lanes to contain 150 yards per game rusher Christian Kramer. Cascade’s most experienced defensive unit lines up at linebacker, where seniors Braxton Lewis, Toby Savini, Baynx Stirling, and sophomore TJ Turner will get the start. SR Delton Howrey will add in valuable minutes as a physical spell back to these four. This group combines leadership, toughness, and athleticism, and will be key in slowing down North Putnam's elusive air raid attack. Last week against Danville, Savini and Turner led this group with 9 tackles each and 5 sacks between the two. Cascade’s secondary will be back to full strength for Week 3 against North Putnam, led by seniors Marcus Hobson and JT Roshong, along with juniors Lucas Farmer and Michael Langley. Last week against Danville, this group swarmed the secondary giving up 185 yards on just 33% completion percentage, 3 pass break-ups and 1 interception. Roshong led this group with 8 tackles from the secondary position. This secondary will have their hardest test to date on the season with 4 year QB and Butler commit Christian Kramer on Friday Night. Cougars offense averages 220 yards through the air in the first two weeks of the season. With added depth and experience in 2025, Cascade’s secondary is ready to meet the challenges of playing against an experienced quarterback. Junior Brogan Trump will take on the kicking duties for the Cadets, following in the footsteps of Max Stucky’s historic season. Trump is taking on first-year kicking opportunities while also playing soccer. Trump will handle all aspects of kicking Friday Night. For the season, Trump is 11-13 on the year. Trump averages 45.4 on his kickoffs. SCOUTING THE COUGARS North Putnam is led by Head Coach Scott Moore, now in his fourth season with a 15-17 career record. Last year, Moore led the Cougars to a 7-4 regular season. Cougars bring back a strong senior class led by SR QB Christian Kramer, SR RB/LB Wes Murphy, and SR LB Caiden Hankins. Last week, North Putnam dropped Cloverdale in dominating fashion, 57-26. SR Chrstian Kramer 470 yards of offense in the game. In week 1, Cougars dropped the first game 53-33 giving up 650 yards of offense. North Putnam has zero problem scoring points on teams this season. 2025 Schedule Week 0: @ Linton Week 1: Monrovia W 48-6 Week 2: @ Danville W 41-25 Week 3: @ North Putnam Week 4: North Montgomery Week 5: @ Frankfort Week 6: Crawfordsville (Homecoming) Week 7: @ Greencastle Week 8: Southmont (Senior Night) Week 9: @ Western Boone Week 10: Sectional Quarterfinal Week 11: Sectional Semifinal Week 12: IHSAA Sectional Championship Week 13: IHSAA Regional Championship Week 14: IHSAA Semi-State Championship Week 15: IHSAA State Championship VARSITY COACHING STAFF HEAD COACH Connor Simmons 6th year at Cascade with an overall record of 30-26 Simmons currently ranks 3rd in total wins in program history with 30.
