SETTING THE SCENE Friday Night Lights return to Clayton, IN as the Cadets host the North Montgomery Chargers in a Week 4 showdown under the lights. This isn’t just another Friday night, it’s Cascade’s first home game since week one and in Monon Athletic Conference play. What’s at stake? For Cascade, it’s about defending their home turf, extending their 12-game regular season win streak, and continuing to build momentum after last week’s big win over North Putnam. For North Montgomery, who enters at 0-3, it’s about finding their team identity and showing they can compete as they navigate a challenging schedule and a new conference landscape. Cascade will look to impose its will with its fast-paced, no-huddle Wing-T offense, and wear down the Chargers with tempo, while unleashing a relentless, physical defensive presence. North Montgomery, still searching for consistency, will try to mix things up offensively, balancing the run game with timely passes to keep the Cadet defense guessing and look to slow down an offense that possesses numerous weapons. The outcome will hinge on execution, toughness, and which team can rise to the moment. With conference positioning on the line, expect a hard-hitting, physical battle as the Cadets aim to make a statement and the Chargers look to turn their season around. Clayton will be rocking Friday night, it’s set to be a beautiful night for football, don’t miss it. CADET NOTES Cascade has opened the 2025 season 3-0 for the second straight year, highlighted by an impressive 41-25 Week 2 victory over 4A #11 Danville. The Cadets have established themselves early with their trademark fast, physical style of play, earning statement wins over rival Monrovia in the Battle of I-70 and the highly ranked Warriors. In Week 3, Cascade earned its first-ever Monon Athletic Conference victory, defeating the North Putnam Cougars on the road. Now, the Cadets return home for Week 4 to host the North Montgomery Chargers in their second conference matchup. With a 12-game regular season win streak on the line, Cascade aims to keep building momentum and continue proving themselves as one of the top programs in the state in 3A. Senior quarterback Brady Trebley is under center, commanding Cascade’s no-huddle Wing-T offense. Through week three of the season, Trebley has completed 32-45 for 454 yards and 7 touchdowns. He also has added 79 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Last week, Trebley became the third 3,000-yard passer in Cascade Football History, joining elite company Taylor Long and Kyle Foster. He also has climbed the school record books, moving into 2nd all-time in career passing touchdowns (47) and 3rd all-time in career passing yards (3,118) passing Dylan Kottkamp. His 63.1% completion rate already stands as the best in Cadet history. Trebley is aiming to close out his Cadet career by chasing the top spot in career passing touchdowns, needing just 7 more to become Cascade’s all-time leader. Behind him, sophomore Luke Austin and freshman Mason Minner will provide depth in the quarterback room as the Cadets look toward the future. Brady Trebley Ranks in Career Passing History: Passing Yards (Career): 3rd (3,118) Passing TDs (Career): 2nd (47) Completions (Career): 4th (184) Completion % (Career): 1st (63.1%) Cascade’s four-headed rushing attack remains the driving force as they head into their Week 4 home matchup with North Montgomery. While the Cadets came away with the win, they struggled to find consistent success in the run game, leaning on a handful of explosive plays to spark the offense against North Putnam. Limited to just 35 total offensive plays, the ground attack was efficient but lacked steady production. Seniors Dayton Mink and Toby Savini provide a dynamic and experienced backfield duo, both having already surpassed 2,000 career rushing yards. Last week, Mink carried the ball 7 times for 34 yards, while Savini added 2 carries for 32 yards, including a 32-yard touchdown burst. Senior Marcus added depth and versatility with 4 carries for 67 yards and a touchdown. Look for this group to get back on track this week and develop that physical presence needed to have championship level success. Dayton Mink & Toby Savini Career Rushing Ranks: Rushing Yards: Savini 4th (2,419) / Mink 6th (2,204) Rushing Touchdowns: Savini 5th (26) / Mink 3rd (29) Yards Per Rush: Savini 1st (9.35) / Mink 5th (6.61) Scoring: Savini 3rd (234 Points) / Mink 6th (194) Cascade’s wide receiver group continues to show its value in key moments, providing balance to the Cadets’ run-heavy offense. In Week 3, senior Marcus Hobson delivered a standout performance, hauling in 3 receptions for 53 yards and 2 touchdowns, proving to be a reliable red-zone threat and big-play option on the edge. The entire receiving corps combined for 4 receptions totaling 73 yards, with seniors JT Roshong and Delton Howrey, along with junior Cooper Lievens, adding depth and versatility. While the Cadets lean heavily on their ground game, this experienced group gives Cascade the ability to stretch the field and keep defenses honest heading into their Week 4 matchup with North Montgomery. Cascade’s tight end unit remains a cornerstone of both the run and pass game, anchored by senior Braxton Lewis. Alongside fellow senior Royce Bright and junior Trent Austin, the trio brings a wealth of experience and physicality to the offense, with all three having seen varsity snaps since their freshman campaigns. Though the tight ends were quiet in the passing game during last week’s win over North Putnam not recording a reception. Lewis, a consistent force at the point of attack, continues to lead the group with his physical style of play and blocking prowess. He got on the board in Week 2 with a 17-yard reception in the second quarter of the Danville game. As Cascade prepares to take on North Montgomery, look for the tight ends to play a pivotal role in establishing the run and providing a reliable safety valve in the passing attack. Cascade’s offensive line has been a key part of the Cadets’ early-season success, but the group is looking to bounce back after a tough outing against a physical North Putnam front with only paving the way for 120 rushing yards, lowest total in 4 years. Led by senior Brody Duncan, with juniors Wyatt Minardo and Dillon Setty on the edges, and sophomores Eric Appleby (center) and Gunner White (left guard), the unit is aiming to get back to the physical brand of football that helped them average nearly 400 yards per game early in the season. After paving the way for 236 rushing yards vs. Danville two weeks ago, this group will look to reestablish the line of scrimmage and open lanes for Cascade’s explosive backfield in Friday night’s matchup with North Montgomery. Cascade’s defensive front is coming off a strong Week 3 showing that handled the run game with -27 yards rushing for the Cougars and will look to carry that momentum into Friday night against a North Montgomery offense that managed just 90 total yards last week. Seniors Dominic Appleby and Bentley McClellan led the charge vs. North Putnam with 3 tackles each, helping set the tone up front. The group is focused on controlling the line of scrimmage and shutting down the Charger offense who is trying to find an identity. With added depth from Wyatt Minardo, Jacob Healy, and others in rotation, this unit is ready to build off last week's dominating performance in week 2 of the MAC. Cascade’s linebacker corps continues to prove why it's the most experienced and battle-tested unit on the defensive side of the ball. Seniors Braxton Lewis, Toby Savini, Baynx Stirling, and sophomore TJ Turner once again delivered a statement performance in Week 3, this time by completely shutting down a North Putnam offense that entered the game averaging over 280 yards per game on the ground. The Cadets held the Cougars to an eye-popping -27 rushing yards, showcasing the linebackers' discipline, physicality, and sideline-to-sideline speed. Turner led the charge with 13 tackles. Senior Delton Howrey continues to bring toughness and fresh legs to the rotation, giving Cascade valuable reps at the second level without missing a beat. As the Cadets prepare for a Week 4 matchup against North Montgomery, this linebacker unit is locked in and ready to impose its will once again, controlling the run game, applying pressure, and setting the tone for a defense that’s finding its identity as one of the state’s top 3A defenses. Cascade’s secondary continues to establish itself as one of the most disciplined and consistent units on the field. Led by seniors Marcus Hobson and JT Roshong, along with juniors Lucas Farmer and Michael Langley, put together another strong performance in the win over North Putnam with Marcus Hobson picking up his 2nd interception of the year and JT Roshong tallying 8 tackles. While the stat sheet didn’t fill up with flashy numbers, the DBs limited big plays and controlled the back end with poise and communication. That quiet dominance is becoming a theme for this group, who just two weeks ago held Danville to a 33% completion rate and snagged an interception to go with three pass breakups. Cascade’s defensive backfield is poised to keep the clamps on as they face a North Montgomery team still searching for rhythm in the passing game. As Week 4 kicks off, the Cadets’ secondary is focused on continuing their lockdown presence and setting the tone on the back end. Junior Brogan Trump will continue the kicking duties for the Cadet. Trump is taking on first-year kicking opportunities while also playing soccer. Trump will handle all aspects of kicking Friday Night. For the season, Trump is 17-19 on the year. Trump averages 44.8 on his kickoffs. SCOUTING THE CHARGERS The North Montgomery Chargers (0-3) are still looking for their first win as they head into Friday night under the direction of 12th-year head coach Josh Thompson (57-63 career record). After losses to Fountain Central, Twin Lakes, and Southmont, the Chargers are working to find their identity in all three phases of the game. Offensively, they average 112 passing yards but just 38 rushing yards per game. 2025 Schedule Week 0: @ Linton Week 1: Monrovia W 48-6 Week 2: @ Danville W 41-25 Week 3: @ North Putnam W 42-6 Week 4: North Montgomery Week 5: @ Frankfort Week 6: Crawfordsville (Homecoming) Week 7: @ Greencastle Week 8: Southmont (Senior Night) Week 9: @ Western Boone Week 10: Sectional Quarterfinal Week 11: Sectional Semifinal Week 12: IHSAA Sectional Championship Week 13: IHSAA Regional Championship Week 14: IHSAA Semi-State Championship Week 15: IHSAA State Championship VARSITY COACHING STAFF HEAD COACH Connor Simmons 6th year at Cascade with an overall record of 31-26 With the victory last Friday Night, Simmons became tied with Gary Satterfield for 2nd most wins in Cascade history with 31.
