The Lady Cadets (1-6, 1-2 Monon) returned back to the road tonight for the start of a six game stretch away from Cascade Memorial Stadium. Tonight’s journey takes the Lady Cadets over to Terre Haute to play the Lady Vikings of West Vigo High School. West Vigo High School is a legacy rival for the Lady Cadets. For many years the two schools played each other as members of the Western Indiana Conference but recent IHSAA reclassification has moved the Cadets and Vikings into same soccer Sectional (2A #27). The Lady Cadets and Lady Vikings played each other three times last season and each game got a little more intense. Luckily for the Cadets, they came out victorious in all three games but the outcome of each game was only decided late in the contests. The girls soccer game between the Lady Cadets and the Lady Vikings turned early for West Vigo when the Cascade defense gave up the first goal around 2:00 into the game. As the Cadets played hard to limit the Lady Vikings lead to 1-0, they were unfortunately called for a defensive foul within the penalty box that resulted in the second goal of the game after the penalty kick was scored. Being down 2-0 about halfway into the first half frustrated the Lady Cadets but they did a good job moving the ball into the Lady Vikings defensive zone and keeping pressure out of the Cadets defensive third. The first half ended with the Lady Cadets trail 2-0 but getting some shots on the West Vigo goal that just didn’t find the back of the net. The start of the second half saw another early Cascade defensive mistake yield a West Vigo goal making the score 3-0 and the chance of a Cadet comeback almost impossible. Once West Vigo scored their third goal, they started to take more risks and play even more aggressively against the Lady Cadets. The Lady Cadets did a fine job handling the physical and aggressive play from West Vigo but the final score did expand to 6-0 in favor of West Vigo. For the Cadets, tonight’s game was another physically demanding game that resulted in another tough loss. The 6-0 loss Cadets drops their record down to 1-7. The Lady Vikings victory improves their record back up to .500 (4-4). West Vigo’s next game will be at South Vermillion early next week. The Lady Cadets continue their road game festival on Monday, September 15th when they travel down to Spencer to play Owen Valley High School. The game between Cascade and Owen Valley will start at 5:30 p.m. Game Summary 1H 2H Final Cascade 0 0 0 West Vigo 2 4 6
