The Cascade Cadets football team will take the field this Friday Night for a intrasquad Black vs Blue scrimmage. GAME DETAILS Cascade Cadets Black vs Cascade Cadets Blue Time: 7p.m., Friday August 4th, 2023 Location: Cascade High School, Clayton, IN Tickets: FREE GATE ENTRANCE - We ask that you bring 1 canned food to donate to a local food bank. SETTING THE SCENE Cascade brings back a wealth of experience for the 2023 football season. Graduating 4 seniors in the previous year, Cascade looks to give a sneak peek of what the Cadets will look like on the gridiron. Teams rosters have been divided and a 4 quarter, 10 minute running clock game will take place. Troy Edwards takes over the play calling duties on the defensive side of the football. SUMMER RECAP Cascade wrapped up their 2023 summer session last Thursday. Cadets hosted 29 lifting opportunities and 8 practice opportunities. 31 players showed up to 80% or more of the opportunities and of the 31, 11 players finished with perfect attendance. The team has been working hard in the weight room 4 days a week and began the practice portion July 11th. Cascade took a different approach to the summer moving forward and that is to not start football practices until after moratorium break to allow kids time for other sports, enjoy their summer, keep the kids fresh and crunch the violent sport of football into a four month window. CADET NOTES Cascade had their first winning season since 2013 and look to improve on that with returning 35 of 39 players from the 2022 roster. Cascade returns 8 starters on both sides of the football and numerous more Cadets with varsity playing experience. Cadets return two-500 yard running backs, 900 yard passer and 3 returning offensive linemen. On defense, the Cadets return 2 of their top four tacklers from the 2022 season. Look out for more names to shine under the lights on Friday Night Lights for the 2023 season. LOOKING AHEAD The Cadets will be on the road for their IHSAA sanctioned scrimmage at Parke Heritage next Friday Night as they look to get live reps against Parke Heritage, Riverton Park and North Central (Farmersburg). Cascade opens up week #1 against top 10 opponent Triton Central Tigers at home on August 18th.
