Win streak goes to twelve games for Trojans baseball as they record their third consecutive shutout defeating the Morgan Twp. Cherokees 5-0 on Saturday morning. The Purdue bound guy, Troy Barrett(3IP, H, 0BB, 4K), asked to get some tosses in so why not let him do it during a game. Barrett needed a bullpen session and got it throwing only 30 pitching in which 24 were strikes. Quick math equates to only six balls, one every five pitches, with an outcome of zero walks and four strikeouts as he faced the minimum number of batters for his sixth W of the season. Cam Campbell(4IP, 0H, 0BB, 4K) took the ball out of the pen to relieve Barrett and it was like the older lefty never left the rubber. Campbell looked like a future Boilermaker after being nearly perfect in the final four frames. Other than an infield error and a full count hit-by-pitch, the junior southpaw hurled hitless ball and didn't give any free passes while whiffing three Cherokees. The only MTwp. knock came off the bat of C. Atchison when he singled up the middle and was quickly erased with a 1-6-3 twin killing a few pitches later, the sixth of the season. From the chalk outlined rectangle, Trojan hitters continue to hurt the little white ball with 108 stitches on it. One hitter in particular, Rob Czarniecki(3-4, 2R, RBI, HR), doesn't see the ball like that these days. Instead "Berto", "Bobby", "Robbo", sees a much larger more colorful ball made of rubber donning red and blue swirls, otherwise known as a beachball. The standout had another stellar game at the plate going 3-4 including an oppo taco that landed in the backyard of a nearby dwelling. The Trojans offense put up two in the first after Barrett struck out the side in the top half. Czarniecki shot one through the left side, Barrett(1-2, R, 2BB) walked and both advanced when Eli McClelland(0-2, 2K, SAC) bunted them over. Caden Hackett(2-3, RBI) lined to left to plate Czarniecki and G Kirkland(0-2, RBI, K) followed with a sac bunt that brought home Barrett and moved Logan Chestovich to second where he was left. Kankakee bound, Ethan Glassman(1-3, R, 2K) made some noise to start the next frame with a triple off the upper half of the right field wall and promptly scored on a Nate Redman(1-3, R, RBI) grounder to the right side making it 3-0 for the boys wearing the home whites with a sublimated maroon, gold and white jersey. In the fourth the Trojans would add some insurance when Redman reached on an infield single and scored on a Barrett single to right that was booted by the outfielder allowing Redman to scamper in all the way from first to make it 4-0. In the sixth, Czarniecki went with a heater on the outer third and deposited Mr. Spaulding well beyond the right field fence for his fourth round tripper of the year. The tape measure shot ended the scoring at 5-0 giving Chesterton a twelve game winning streak where they have outscored their opponent 104-17 and won fourteen of their last fifteen.
