Chesterton Boys Track Completes Second Straight Undefeated Conference Season

The Chesterton boys track and field team capped off an undefeated conference season with wins over Merrillville (70-62) and Portage (99-33), marking the second straight year the Trojans have gone unbeaten in conference duals. Chesterton’s distance group set the tone, sweeping the top three spots in both the 800 and 3200. Spencer Martin (2:00.39), Zarek Sierazy (2:01.37), and William Roberson (2:06.24) went 1-2-3 in the 800, while Ryan Nix (9:53.30), Ray Hundt (9:57.40), and Nick Jakel (10:01.90) did the same in the 3200. Martin also won the 1600 in 4:23.98, with Nix taking second (4:32.35). On the sprint side, Weston Moore led the Trojans with a third-place finish in the 100 (11.31), while Devin Throw added a third-place effort in the 200 (23.00). In the 400, Ben Phillips placed second in 50.40. Chesterton dominated the 300 hurdles, sweeping the top three spots behind Nathan Vaughan (38.21), Louis Raffin (39.68), and Cal Wisniewski (40.19). Vaughan also picked up a win in the long jump with a mark of 23-0. The Trojans picked up key points in the relays as well. The 4x100 team of Louis Raffin, Cal Wisniewski, Weston Moore, and Nathan Vaughan took first in 41.88. The 4x800 relay team of William Morgan, Ray Hundt, William Roberson, and Zarek Sierazy also placed first in 8:23.47. In the 4x400, the team of Noah Haubold, Ben Phillips, Spencer Martin, and Patrick Mochen placed third. In the field events, Colin Kellogg led the way with a second-place finish in the discus (136-5), while Carlos Leon added a second-place finish in the shot put (50-9). Nolan Huley was the top Trojan in the high jump, placing fourth with a clearance of 5-10. In the pole vault, Bryan Huseman placed second (12-6), and Jacob VanVleet finished third. With strong performances across the board, the Trojans closed out conference competition in dominant fashion.
