High School AWAY HOME 4 2 Game Recap Soccer Chesterton 4-2 Warsaw Chesterton won a very competitive game against a good Warsaw team tonight. Warsaw came out of the gates charging & scored after just 4 minutes. Fortunately, against all that pressure, Sophomore Lorelai Simmons made a special play. She stole the ball from a Warsaw midfielder & immediately played in Eva Montes who finished with poise to equalize just 2 minutes later. Then, 2 minutes after that, Adey Avey played a short corner to Gaby Roberson who shot & scored from long distance. Those goals helped give the team confidence to take control of most of the rest of the half. During that period, Adey Avey managed to steal the ball from a defender & score to make it 3-1. The 2nd half started much like the first, but without all the goals. Warsaw were aggressive, but we were better prepared for it this time. We competed really hard & managed the half well. About halfway through Simmons managed to find Avey near the top of the box. From there she recognized the time she had & shot low & hard for a great goal from 18 yards out. The rest of the game had incidents, but it was nice to be playing from in front. We were able to get quality minutes for all of our field players. We did concede a late penalty that was converted to get us to the final score of 4-2. All in all it was a really thorough performance with great contributions from our whole roster. It was important to spread those minutes around with 2 more matches coming in the next 3 days. Next up is Goshen on Friday & Carroll on Saturday at the St. Joe Invite. High School AWAY HOME 0 0 Game Recap Soccer Our JV girls soccer team had a hard fought tie against tough Warsaw side. It was end-to-end the entire game and a great defensive effort from the entire team. We had several opportunities to come ahead but unfortunately were not able to capitalize. Our girls have a couple days of rest before we have a double header on Saturday at the Indian invite in South Bend.
