Cassie Peller

Cassie Peller, Class of 2004 An elite distance runner from a young age, Cassie, last name now Nelson, finished in the top four at the state track and field meet five times. She had a second and two fourths in the 800 meters and a third and a fourth in the 1600 meters. She won the DAC championship three times in the 800 meters and three times in the 1600. Cassie ran for the 4x800 relay team that won state in back-to-back years and set a state record both times. Cassie finished seventh for the Trojans’ runner-up cross country team as a junior and placed 10th as a senior. She still holds the Chesterton school record in the 1600 meters and twice was Big East runner-up in the event, running for Marquette University. Cassie teaches in Franklin Pierce College’s physicians’ assistant program and lives in new Hampshire with husband, Mike, the track and field and cross country director at Dartmouth College, and their three children.
