Highland Invitational Champs! The Boys Cross Country team added another team title to their season on Saturday, winning the Highland Invitational with a score of 55 points over Lowell, Valparaiso, Lake Central, Portage, Hanover Central, Illiana Christian, Highland, Griffith, Hebron, Wheeler, Hobart, and Whiting. Senior Jake Metzger led the way for the Dogs, crossing in 16:09 for a strong 2nd place finish overall. He was followed by junior Jackson Zona in 11th (16:45), junior Dylan Ryder in 12th (16:49), and senior Evan Kearns right behind in 13th (16:51.6). Senior Blythe Dieck stepped up as the fifth scorer, clocking 17:07 for 18th place. With five runners in the top 18, the Dogs secured the championship. Also notable: senior Kamden Honickel earned his varsity letter by breaking 18 minutes (17:33), while junior Nathan Petersen dipped under the barrier as well in 17:55.
