Boys Soccer Advances to Sectional Final with Win v. Portage

In the sectional semifinal on October 8, 2025, Crown Point defeated Portage 3-1 to advance to the championship match. After dominating possession and creating numerous chances, the Bulldogs finally broke through late in the first half when senior Brayden Kurtz, assisted by sophomore Ben Collier, scored to give them a 1-0 lead. Portage quickly equalized early in the second half on an own goal, but Crown Point responded with composure as Ante Cop put the Bulldogs back in front, capitalizing on a rebound off the post. Freshman Liam Bazin then sealed the victory with his team-leading 12th goal of the season, securing Crown Point’s place in the sectional final. Senior Brayden Kurtz added an assist to his season total, bringing him to a team-leading 10 assists for the season. With another win to their total, Crown Point notched their 10th win of the season, improving their record to 10-5-3. Their only loss in the last 12 games was to a tough Illiana Christian team on September 29th. The Bulldogs will now face Hobart in the championship game on Saturday at Kankakee Valley.
