The Varsity baseball Musketeers earned their second win of the season in walk-off fashion behind freshman hurler Johnathan Anderson who gave up 8 hits and two runs over seven innings to defeat Trinity Lutheran 3-2. Senior Mason Partridge singled in the bottom of the final frame to score the winning run for an exciting finish. Seniors Garrett Drury and Conner Gilstrap both notched a pair of hits while Gavin Odum, Boone Miller and Partridge each had a knock. The Musketeers ran out of pitching in game two of Saturday as South Central avenged a loss to the Musketeers from earlier in the week, winning 19-9. Drury was a bright spot in the loss going 4 for 4 with an RBI. Gilstrap, Odum, Miller, and Eli Houghlin each had 2 hits, while Anderson and Easton Gray had a hit as well. Bobo Reschar had a pair of RBIs. On Monday the Musketeers traveled to play highly ranked 3A Silver Creek and lost 12-1. Drury, Reschar, Odum and Anderson each notched hits in the loss with Gilstrap coming up with a hit and scoring the lone run. The Musketeers play at home tonight against Henryville and on Thursday against Salem. On the injury front, the team received positive news on senior Marty Lewen who plans to return from orbital bone surgery and is beginning a return to play program soon. ****************************************************************************************************************************** Middle Musketeers beat North Harrison in both games of their double header on Monday in what was a Deja Vu like experience, both ending with clutch 'walk off' hits by Cooper Hurst. In game one, the Musketeers went into the final inning tied 1-1 when Hurst singled home Carter Smith for the walk off win. Prior to that, the Musketeers lone run came on a double by Reece Lindley that also scored Smith. Lindley went the distance in game one on the mound surrendering 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 6 Cougars. Smith went 3 for 3 at the plate, Lindley and Hurst both went 2-3 with an RBI and Reas Sater smashed a double off the CF fence for a dramatic hit that was a few feet short of round tripper. In game two, lightening struck twice as it also ended in walk off fashion with a single by Hurst to score Smith from second for a 6-5 win. Hurst finished the game 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs, catcher Alton Swartz notched a triple and RBI, Smith was 1 for 2 with 3 runs scored and Hayden Farley chipped in a hit and run scored to account for the offense. Jayce Flagg went 3 innings on the mound giving up a run while lefty Kylan Roll went an inning and showed flashes of great upside before a pulled groin took him out. The Musketeers got into trouble in the top of the final inning giving up the tying run and having the go ahead run at 3rd when Drake Deremiah came on to shut down the rally which lead to the walk off dramatics in the bottom half of the inning. The Middle School Musketeers (6-0) play on Wednesday at Larry Ingram Field against West Washington in a double header beginning at 5.
