Eastern Volleyball improves to 7-1, play in Barr Reeve Invitational on Saturday

The Lady M's volleyball team improved to 7-1 and 4-0 in the Southern Athletic Conference last night with a 3 set win against Henryville (9-4). Addie Smith lead with 24 assists, 8 kills, 6 digs, 4 aces and 2 blocks. Sidney Burton lead the team in digs with 14 and contributed 5 kills, and 1 Ace. Avery Smith had 19 kills, 7 digs, 1 ace and 1 block. Eliza Starrett had 9 digs and 2 aces. Emma Brawner chipped in 3 blocks and 4 kills. Eastern heads to Barr Reeve on Saturday morning. They will open up Pool A with Evansville Mater Dei before two 2024 post-season rematches, first with Crawford County and then with Barr Reeve. The fourth match of the day will be a cross over match between pools. Pool B features, CAI, Indy Lutheran, Edgewood and Tecumseh. This early season tournament will be a great test for the ladies and help guide their growth to progress through the season. The JV Lady M's split on the week losing to Henryville last night, but beating New Albany on Wednesday Lilly Gonzalez lead the team with 9 kills out of 18 swings for a .500 hitting percentage to go with 8 digs. Aubrey Mollet had 8 digs. Addy Raley lead the team with 9 digs. Rylee Whitfield had 2 kills off of 5 swings. The squad lost in 2 sets, 25-19, 25-22. On Wednesday night, the JV squad defeating New Albany in an exciting match. More information to come.
