The Flashes XC Boys AND Girls brought home some hardware from the Mt. Vernon Sectional Saturday. The boys were victorious over very good teams from Greenfield Central and Mt. Vernon. Led by a strong showing from Evan Farmer and Justin Reedus, the Flashes depth from 4-7 was the difference in the meet, placing all 7 runners in the top 20. Kade McDermott and Emilio Leal rounded out the scoring with solid performances. The girls dominated the Sectional as they went 1-2-3 up front with Savana Miller winning the Sectional title with a NEW COURSE RECORD time of 18:03. This time bested the old record by 46 seconds. Teammate Kylie Cline was runner-up in her 3rd best time of the year of 18:14 and Dakota Miller ran a VERY competitive race to beat some very good runners she hadn't beaten all season to finish 3rd. Sophomore Camryn Simons was the "breakout star" of the meet though, running a new personal best by 17 seconds and finishing 6th overall. Both squads advance to the Shelbyville Regional where they have a chance to punch their tickets to the State Championships with a top 5 team finish. The boys run at 10:30am and girls run at 11:15am at Blue River Park!
