August Athletes of The Month

Congratulations to our August Athletes of The Month! Each student was selected by their coach based on their performance and/or leadership in the month of August. Blake Bishop- Blake always played defense for us, but with an offensive line depth issue we asked him to switch sides of the ball for the good of the team. He didn't hesitate at the opportunity to help his team out. An outstanding FC Student Athlete! Landon Carlisle- Landon is someone who leads by example and is a person the younger kids can look up to on the team. He has stepped up into the leadership role that comes with being a Senior and encourages his teammates as well to do their best. Landon embraces being coached and looks for ways to get better each and every day in practice. Kade McDermott- Kade has battled injuries the last two years, yet shows up everyday with an infectious attitude and effort. In his first XC race in two years he earned All-County Honors by finishing 8th in Marion County. Kaitlyn Pettet- Kaitlyn has been solid as a rock for us since the summer started. In her first high school race Saturday she ran varsity rather than the freshman race because of how much she means to our team. In that race she stepped up to finish 7th in Marion County in a time of 19:37 for 5k, a phenomenal time for any runner, let alone a freshman. Abby Graves- Abby currently leads the conference in aces with 44, only 2 shy of her season total last year. During the Warren game she set a new school record for aces in a match, dishing up 12 over the 3 sets. She has also surpassed a huge milestone, hitting the 1,000 career assists mark in only her junior season. Nathan Bennett- Nathan has been a very consistent student athlete so far this season, and he has been the biggest difference maker on the field in addition to achieving in the classroom. Ava Wilson- Ava Wilson has lead the Varsity team as one of the amazing co-captains. She has been the most integral part of communication between the student section & the cheerleaders, really bringing FC’s school spirit back to life. She is responsible for team & event promotion/marketing doing an outstanding “behind the scenes” job on social media & online. All of this in addition to exceptional sideline/game day cheer, connecting with the fans, smiling, & maintaining a positive attitude & influence on her team. Morgan Huber- Morgan is always trying to improve her golf game and continues to encourage her team mates by preparing them to the best of her ability for an upcoming event/match. She goes above and beyond by getting out on the golf course after practice hours as well as keeping up with her heavy school load. She is the ultimate student athlete on the golf team! Keep up the great work Morgan! Lauren Baker- Lauren has played all but 40 minutes for our group from the start of the year. Crucial in defense for us and helping keep a few clean sheets. Off the field, Lauren is always positive and leads by example. She is a great ambassador of our program!
