Over the weekend, Peter Nguyen '24 went 2 - 2 at the IHSAA Wrestling Semi State hosted by New Castle. In his first match he was able pin his opponent from Lawrence North in 1:54. The second match was also a pin, however it came at the 3:04. His opponent was from Hamilton Southeastern. In the semi final match, Nguyen would face Gunner Butt from New Palestine. This match would go all three periods and Nguyen would lose by decision. Butt would go on to be Semi State Champion. Nguyen would end up finishing 4th but still qualified for the IHSAA State Finals. Nguyen will face Isaiah Schaefer from Evansville Mater Dei Friday Evening in the first round of the tournament. Stay tuned for more match details.
