Golden Eagle Boys Lacrosse Wins Second Title

On Saturday - The Golden Eagle Boys Lacrosse team defeated the Evansville Memorial Tigers 14 - 5 on their way to a second state title. The 1A IHSLA State Finals were hosted by HSE in which the 2 teams faced off again this season. The Golden Eagles and the Tigers played in March, with the Tiger winnings 15 - 12. On Saturday - the result would be different. After a close first half, ending 3 - 1. The Golden Eagles would score 5 goals in the third quarter and another 6 goals in the fourth quarter. Scoring was lead by Luke Shrift '28 who had 6 goals. John Stordy '25 had 3 goals and 3 assists. Gavin Soucie '27 had 1 goal and 4 assists. Faceoffs were handled by Gabe Berglund '26 and Jack Hubbard '26, combined the boys won 53% of the faceoffs. In goal, Elias Niccum '25 had 12 saves and 71% save rate. The Golden Eagles won their first title in 2021. They were state runner ups in 2022. They have participated in the state final four in 2019, '21, '22, and '25.
