The New Prairie Varsity Cougars won tonight against New Buffalo by a score of 6 - 2. The New Prairie Cougars controlled the match throughout the game, dominating time of possession and shots on goal. The Cougars struck first off of a John Andrews corner kick that Evan Chelminiak poked into the back of the net. The end of the first half saw the score at 1 - 1, but the Cougars were fired up coming out of halftime and ready to win. In the 2nd half the Cougars started off the scoring when Noah Reffo fired a nice 25 yard shot that found the back corner of the net. A few minutes later Eli Mougin scored off of a nice run. Both of those goals were assisted by Rory Zarate. This opened the floodgates, with Adam Martinez and Evan Chelminiak both scoring off of perfect runs and putting the ball in the back of the net. The scoring finished when Rory Zarate scored after he stole an errant pass and beat the keeper on a 1 v 1. The Cougars next play at home against the St Joseph Huskies on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025 at 6:30ish.
