Softball Season Opener vs Wapahani

The Lady Knights started their season off strong with a 22-4 win on the road vs Wapahani. Jocelyn Allen collected four hits in five at bats, as Northeastern Varsity Knights defeated Wapahani 22-4 on Monday. Allen tripled in the first inning, singled in the second inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the fourth inning. Northeastern Varsity Knights got on the board in the first inning after Allen tripled, scoring one run. Northeastern Varsity Knights scored 11 runs on four hits in the top of the second inning. An error scored one run, Alexis Russell doubled, scoring three runs, Allen singled, scoring one run, Hailey Elsrod doubled, scoring three runs, an error scored one run, Zella Cook grounded out, scoring one run, and an error scored one run. Northeastern Varsity Knights added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Karri Gammon doubled to center field, Mackenzie Johnson singled down the left field line, Brooklynne Adams singled down the left field line, and Macey Oler singled to left field, each scoring one run. Johnson earned the win for Northeastern Varsity Knights. The starter gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out five and walking none. Makayla Hopkins appeared in relief for Northeastern Varsity Knights. Northeastern Varsity Knights piled up 20 hits in the game. Hopkins, Oler, and Cook each collected multiple hits for Northeastern Varsity Knights. Gammon led Northeastern Varsity Knights with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Next up for Northeastern Varsity Knights is a game at Franklin County on Friday at 5:45pm.
