Lady Knights Defeat Delta Northeastern Varsity Knights defeated Delta 12-8 on Tuesday. Northeastern Varsity Knights got on the board in the top of the first inning after Alexis Russell tripled, Jocelyn Allen doubled, and Mackenzie Johnson doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Northeastern Varsity Knights extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Johnson and Ti’aja Adams. An error, and a double by Allen helped Northeastern Varsity Knights extend their early lead in the third. Delta scored six runs on two hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Loser was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, an error scored three runs, Freiburger grounded out, scoring one run, and an error scored one run. Isabella Peed homered to center field, scoring two runs in the top of the sixth for the Northeastern Varsity Knights. Hailey Elsrod earned the win for Northeastern Varsity Knights. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking none. Burns stepped in the circle first for Delta. The pitcher gave up three hits and three runs over one inning, striking out one and walking two. Addisyn Wright appeared in relief for Northeastern Varsity Knights. Northeastern Varsity Knights collected 15 hits in the game. Allen drove the middle of the lineup, leading Northeastern Varsity Knights with four runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Johnson went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Northeastern Varsity Knights in hits. Wright and Russell each collected multiple hits for Northeastern Varsity Knights. Northeastern Varsity Knights turned one double play in the game. Hughes and Smith each collected two hits for Delta. West and Loser each drove in two runs for Delta. Delta turned one double play in the game. Northeastern Varsity Knights will travel to Tri for their next game on Thursday.
