Salem notched its first win of the season Tuesday night at Scottsburg, coming away with a thrilling 4-2 victory in a penalty shootout! The game went back and forth from the opening whistle. The Lady Lions struck first, with Clara Zinser finding the back of the net in the opening 15 minutes to give Salem a 1-0 lead. Scottsburg answered in the second half to even the score at 1-1, but Zinser wasn’t finished. With just over 25 minutes remaining, Clara scored her second goal of the night to put Salem back in front, 2-1. The Warriorettes battled back once again, tying the game with just eight minutes remaining and sending the match to a penalty shootout tied at 2-2. During the PK period Whitley McCreary buried Salem’s first penalty kick to give the Lady Lions a 1-0 advantage. Presly Bullock came up huge with a diving save to keep Salem in front. Ashlyn McCreary stepped up and calmly placed her shot into the left side of the net to make it 2-0. Scottsburg’s next penalty sailed wide ensuring a Lady Lion Victory! FINAL: Salem 4, Scottsburg 2
