By Hank Weedin | Apr 22, 2025 1:31 PM

The Salem Athletic Hall of Fame welcomed its 2025 Inductees this past Saturday night. Over 60 people were in attendance to share this special moment with 4 deserving people. The night started with a catered dinner followed by the presentation of our 4 inductees who spent some time talking about their experiences as athletes during their years as an SHS student. Dr. William Chastain, class of 1984, was our first inductee. He was introduced to the crowd by Coach Jim Ralston (2019 Hall of Famer). Stan Colglazier, class of 1959, was next to take the stage. He was introduced by former SMS Principal Mr. Charlie Hunt. Mrs. Carolyn Haag, class of 1935, was our next inductee. Unfortunately, Mrs. Haag passed away shortly after selection announcements were sent out. Mrs. Haag was an astonishing 105 years old. Her whole life was devoted to physical fitness. Her sons, Brian and Roger, were in attendance on her behalf. Our final inductee was long time basketball coach Paul Schanlaub. Coach Schanlaub led Salem to 4 sectional titles and 2 regional titles while averaging 15.5 wins per season. Nick Ingram, a senior at Salem, spoke on Coach Schanlaub's behalf.
