TC BOYS BASKETBALL FALLS TO SHELBYVILLE. Triton Central dropped both the varsity and junior varsity contests to Shelbyville at home Saturday night. Shelbyville controlled the varsity matchup from the start to claim a 52–39 win. The Golden Bears led 10–7 after the first quarter and stretched the margin to 20–9 by halftime. Shelbyville continued its second-half surge, carrying a 37–22 advantage into the fourth before closing out the victory. Senior Eli Sego shouldered the offensive load for Triton Central, finishing with a game-high 21 points. Additional scoring came from Conner McClure (5 points), Henry Kemper (4 points), Brody Hartman (3 points), Brayden Hoover (3 points), and Jackson Faust (2 points). With the loss, Triton Central varsity moves to 1–1 on the season. The JV contest featured a dramatic late push, as the Tigers clawed back from a 16-point third-quarter deficit before falling just short, 56–52. Shelbyville built an early 19–9 lead and maintained a 27–19 edge at the break. The Golden Bears appeared firmly in control after three, leading 43–27, but Triton Central exploded for 25 points in the final quarter. The comeback was sparked by Dylan Showalter, who finished with 12 points. Owen Hornberger added 9, while Dominic Moore (7), Landon Bailey (8), Chase Calderone (8), Conner Eubanks (6), and Jaden Abplanalp (2). With the loss, Triton Central JV falls to 1–1 on the year. The Tigers return to action Thursday, as the JV hosts Waldron at 7:30 PM, followed by the varsity matchup Friday night at 7:30 PM, also in Fairland.
