TC GIRLS BASKETBALL SWEEP RUSHVILLE. Triton Central put together a dominant two-team showing Tuesday night, powering past Rushville in both junior varsity and varsity girls basketball action on the road. In the varsity nightcap, Triton Central rolled to a 55-33 victory, breaking open a close contest with defensive pressure and a third-quarter surge. The Lady Tigers battled the Lady Lions evenly through the opening eight minutes, finishing the first quarter knotted 9-9. By halftime, TC had seized control, taking a 26-19 lead into the locker room. The momentum continued after the break, as Triton Central stretched the margin to 42-28 by the end of the third before pulling away down the stretch. Triton Central was paced by senior Maryrose Felling, who poured in 21 points. Junior Quinn King added 13 points, while junior Layla Compton delivered 8 points. Junior Kate Collier chipped in 5 points, senior Cheyenne Allen contributed 6, and senior Lexi Eubanks tallied 2 points for the Lady Tigers. With the win, Triton Central varsity improves to 4-2 on the season. Earlier in the evening, Triton Central’s JV squad set the tone with a 44-26 win. TC led by just one after a competitive opening quarter, 11-10. The Lady Tigers defense then tightened, holding the Lions to just one point in the second quarter as they built a 17-11 halftime edge. TC erupted in the third, outscoring Rushville 14-5 to take a 31-16 lead into the fourth, where they cruised comfortably to close out the win. Hayden McMichael led the JV scoring with 13 points. Anna Kemper posted 8 points, Ryn West added 7, Madison Swisher and Kenzie Hoover each netted 5, Peyton Fillippinie and Eliana Joy each scored 3. Triton Central JV now sits at 7-1 on the year. UP NEXT: Triton Central will return to Fairland for a pair of home contests, as the JV takes on Roncalli Thursday at 6 PM and the varsity hosts Waldron on Friday at 6 PM.
