GIRLS BASKETBALL VS. TRI-WEST (12/9)

TC GIRLS BASKETBALL FALLS TO TRI-WEST IN HLC MATCH-UP. For three quarters on Tuesday night, Triton Central’s varsity girls basketball team controlled the pace, the scoreboard, and much of the momentum on the road at Tri-West. But a late-game surge by the Bruins flipped the contest, handing the Tigers a 68–61 loss despite leading at every stop until the final period. Triton Central opened strong, executing cleanly on both ends to take a 17–10 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers continued to dictate tempo, pushing the margin to 32–26 at halftime. Out of the break, Tri-West applied more pressure, but TC answered each run to hold a 46–44 advantage entering the fourth. Tri-West then outscored Triton Central 24–15 in the final frame to steal the game. For TC, junior Quinn King paced the Tigers with 17 points while adding 3 assists, 3 rebounds, and a steal. Senior Maryrose Felling continued her strong scoring stretch with 15 points to go with 3 assists and 4 rebounds. Junior Kate Collier impacted the game across the board, posting 4 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, and a steal. Junior Layla Compton sparked the offense with 11 points, along with 3 assists and a steal while senior Cheyenne Allen chipped in 9 points and added 2 steals. Sophomore Rylee Pruitt contributed 5 points, an assist, a rebound, and 2 steals off the bench. On the glass, Lexi Eubanks and Madison Swisher each added a rebound to the team’s effort. The loss drops Triton Central to 5–3 overall and 1–1 in Hoosier Legends Conference play. Up Next: Triton Central returns home Thursday to host Shortridge. The JV tips off at 6 PM, followed by the varsity matchup at 7:30 PM.
