GIRLS TENNIS VS. EASTERN HANCOCK (4/21)

TC GIRLS TENNIS BEATS EASTERN HANCOCK, IMPROVES TO 6-0. Triton Central’s girls tennis team continued its strong start to the season Tuesday night, defeating Eastern Hancock 4-1 at home to improve to 6-0 overall. Despite dropping the No. 1 singles match, the Tigers responded with dominant play across the rest of the lineup to secure the team victory. Eastern Hancock picked up its lone point at No. 1 singles, where Lexi Fletcher defeated Maryrose Felling 6-3, 6-3. It marked the first loss of the season for Felling, but Triton Central quickly regained control with commanding performances in the remaining matches. At No. 2 singles, Anniston Evans was nearly flawless, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Roxie Maxwell. Zhibek Zhumaly followed with a strong showing at No. 3 singles, winning 6-2, 6-3 to give the Tigers the lead. Triton Central sealed the match with solid play in doubles. The No. 1 team of Kate Collier and Neve Kahler handled their opponents in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. At No. 2 doubles, Estelle Gearlds teamed with Ellie Gast to deliver a convincing 6-2, 6-0 win to clinch the team victory. The junior varsity squad completed a clean sweep of Eastern Hancock, winning 6-0. Morgan Fisher and Kenzie Hoover each picked up 6-4 wins in singles play, while Caydence Stout and Anna Kemper both recorded 6-0 shutouts. In doubles, the teams of Cadence Roberts and Keely O’Gara, along with Ava Copeland and Madison Swisher, added decisive victories to finish off the perfect JV performance. With the win, Triton Central remains unbeaten at 6-0 and continues to show depth throughout its lineup. The Tigers will be back in action Wednesday evening on the road at Tri-West, with matches scheduled to begin at 5 PM.
