The Lady Apaches hit the road early this morning to compete at the Chuck Schlemmer Memorial at West Noble. The girls participated in the varsity race while the weather was chilly and cloudy. The perfect 5k weather! With 189 athletes running, the girls had to fight to get around the first curve within the first 400 meters of the race. By the first mile, all of the girls were speeding through. After the 2 mile, the girls had to fight to work forward for placing in the last mile. Overall, the girls efforts brought them a 15th place team finish amongst the 22 complete teams. First for the Apaches was Calisen Kugler, a senior, with a 22:53 time and an 88th place finish. Next was our junior, Ivy Beamer, coming in with a 23:01 season best time and taking 91st place. Following Beamer was Haylee Friend, a sophomore, running a season best time of 23:20 and placing 95th overall. Next was freshman, Mallory Tart, with a time of 23:40 and crossing the line in 98th place. Next up was Mia Fairchild, a freshman, placing 116th overall with a career PR time of 24:10. Irma Robles, a senior, sprinted in right behind her with a time of 25:33 and taking 138th place. Rinka Higuera, a freshman, came in close behind Robles with a time of 25:39 and placing 142nd place. Sophomore, Maya Howard, ran a time of 25:53 and placing 145th. Right behind her was Josie Bailey, a freshman, who finished up for the running Apaches with a time of 26:02 and a 146th place finish. The Lady Apaches will be at it again next Tuesday at their home meet, also acting as our senior night. This will be the last race before Conference!
