Wabash picked up their first TRC win of the season in an exciting second-half comeback. Wabash went down a goal early when Peru scored on their first possession of the game. A stunned Wabash squad took a minute to recover but the defense solidified and held Peru scoreless for the rest of the game. However, the Apaches struggled to generate much offense in the first 40 minutes. Max Carpenter had a couple of good looks at the goal but was unable to capitalize. Wabash came out in the second half reenergized. The Apaches were quicker to the ball and looking to pressure Peru at every opportunity. The increased tempo paid off when Colson Kugler raced down the right side of the field in pursuit of a through ball and ended up being tripped in the box for a penalty kick. Will Galley calmly put the equalizer in the net and the game was all even. Minutes later Ty Carpenter took a corner kick that Will Galley flicked on to Caleg Daugherty who scored to put the Apaches on top with about 15 minutes to go. Peru made a frenzied effort to get back in the game and their efforts we rewarded with a penalty kick of their own. But Wabash's Isaac Byers was up to the task and got the initial save before Owen Honeycutt was able to make a clearance to end the threat. The Apaches held on from that point on to get the win. Wabash is now 4-7 on the year. They face TriCentral on Thursday at Alumni.
