Wabash swimmers win 17 events against Rochester

Swimming in their fourth meet in the last week, the Wabash Swim Team won 17 of 23 events against Rochester on Tuesday night. The girls were led by Nonoka Higuera (200 free and 500 free), Quinn Myers (200 IM and 100 back), and Abbi Hipskind (50 free and 100 fly) who each won both of their individual events. Emma Ryder won the 100 free, her first high school win, and took second in the 100 breast. Rinka Higuera won the 100 breast and was 2nd in the 200 IM. Emma Coffman was second in the 50 freestyle. Elli Hall continued to improve, taking 5th in the 50 free and 100 free. In relays, the 200 medley relay team of Hipskind, Myers, N. Higuera, and Coffman took first. The same swimmers won the 200 free relay. The boys were led by Nick Perkins (50 free, 100 fly) and Chase Howard (100 free, 100 breast) winning their individual events. Cael McCann won the 100 back and took second in the 200 IM. Isaiah Jones was 3rd in the 200 free and 500 free. Chaz Harris finished 4th in the 200 free and 50 free. Luke Blossom was 3rd in the 100 fly and fourth in the 200 IM. Maverick Sommers was 3rd in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 free. Lucas Coffman was 4th in the 50 free and 6th in the 100 free. In the boys relays, the team of McCann, Howard, Perkins and Jones won the 200 medley relay and 200 free relays. The team of Sommers, Coffman, Blossom, and Harris took 2nd in the 400 free relay. The Apaches host Maconaquah on Monday, December 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Wabash County YMCA.
