Apaches break records at Warsaw Sectional

The Wabash Swim Team broke three team records at the IHSAA Warsaw Swimming & Diving Sectionals. Sophomore Cael McCann swam a meet best 21.25 in the 50 freestyle, breaking the record of 21.84 set by Seth Blossom in 2022. Junior Chase Howard dropped two seconds off his best time to swim a 1:05.57 breaking the 1:05.96 record also set by Blossom in 2022. The 200 Free Relay team of McCann, Sophomore Isaiah Jones, Howard, and Senior Nick Perkins swam a 1:32.97, besting the 2023 record set by Blossom, McCann, Howard, and Perkins. Finals swims included 2nd place in the 200 Medley Relay (McCann, Howard, Perkins, Jones), Perkins 5th in the 50 Freestyle, McCann 2nd in the 100 Freestyle, Perkins 8th in the 100 Freestyle, 4th in the 200 Freestyle Relay (McCann, Jones, Howard, Perkins), McCann 2nd in the 100 Backstroke, and Howard 5th in the 100 Breaststroke. Consolations Finals swims included Jones 14th in the 200 Freestyle, Harris 15th in the 200 Freestyle, Howard 13th in the 200 Individual Medley, Maverick Sommers 16th in the 50 Freestyle, Jones 15th in the 100 Freestyle, Luke Blossom 10th in the 500 Freestyle, Harris 15th in the 500 Freestyle, Hank Gray (Northfield) 12th in the 100 Breaststroke, and 10th in the 400 Freestyle Relay (Blossom, Lucas Coffman, Harris, Sommers). All Apaches swam to personal records. Special recognition to Senior Nick Perkins on a remarkable career for Wabash. Nick finishes his career as a member of three school record relay teams (200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay). He has the 3rd fastest times in program history in the 200 Freestyle, 50 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly, 100 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle, and 100 Backstroke.
