The Apaches hosted Mississinewa for the first home contest of the season. Mississinewa came away with a 4-1 victory, but the matches were competitive! Wabash’s 3 singles player, Hadley Schuler, played a marathon match. After 2.5 hours, Hadley came away with the only win of the night. Her score was 6-3, 7-6 (6). Coach Ford shared, “I am so proud of the way Hadley played tonight. She kept her composure, even when she got down 2-4 in the second set. She fought her way back by focusing on her strengths and limiting her unforced errors.” In singles action, Alexa Johnson (1 singles) fell 2-6, 2-6. Emma Weaver (2 singles) fell 2-6, 4-6. The 1 doubles duo of Maddie Von Uhl and Bridget Bailey dropped the first set 0-6. Their game finally started to come together in the second set, but they eventually fell 3-6. The 2 doubles duo of Abbi Hipskind and Emma Adams played in a back and forth three set match. Wabash won the first set 6-4, but they couldn’t keep their momentum going, losing the next two sets 1-6 and 3-6. For JV action, Sophie France and Amanda Alspach teamed up to play two doubles matches. In their first match, they came away with a 6-4 victory. After playing a highly contested first match, their energy ran out and lost their second match 4-6. Wabash travels to Tippecanoe Valley tomorrow.
