Wabash Tennis Gets First Win

On Saturday, Wabash hosted their own invitational. Teams in attendance were Taylor, Triton, Wabash, and Whitko. Wabash placed 3rd, getting their first win of the season! In their first matchup of the day, Wabash faced Triton. Wabash fell 0-5 to the champions of the invitational. The closest match was at the 1 doubles position, where Maddie Von Uhl and Abbi Hipskind went 3 sets. The duo lost the first set 1-6. In the second set, they began working together as a team and came away with a 6-3 victory. In the third set super tiebreaker, they lost 6-10. In the second round, Wabash faced Whitko for the second time in 3 days. Wabash fell 2-3 to them again. Both doubles teams came away with wins. The one doubles team of Maddie Von Uhl and Abbi Hipskind played in another tightly contested 3 set match. The score was 6-2, 6-7 (1), 10-4. The two doubles team of Bridget Bailey and Emma Weaver came away with a 6-4, 6-4 victory. This was a long, highly competitive match. 2 singles player, Emma Adams, also played three sets. Emma was so close to coming away with the win, but she eventually lost 6-4, 0-6, 6-10. In the last match of the day, Wabash played Taylor. Wabash won in dominant fashion, winning at all 5 positions. Alexa Johnson (1 singles) won 6-0, 6-0. Emma Adams (2 singles) won 6-2, 6-2. Sophie France (3 singles) won by forfeit. Maddie Von Uhl and Emma Weaver (1 doubles) won 6-1, 6-1. Bridget Bailey and Hadley Schuler (2 doubles) won 6-2, 6-1. Wabash travels to Eastern (Greentown) on Monday night. Wabash has a home match against Lewis Cass on Tuesday. On Thursday, Wabash will celebrate senior night during their home matchup against Peru.
