On a rainy Monday afternoon, the tennis team traveled to Eastern. The match was played indoors at the Howard County Tennis Center. Wabash is very appreciative that the tennis center was available so that we could get our match in. The Apaches lost 0-5 to a very skilled team. Scores for the night: Alexa Johnson (1 singles) lost 0-6, 3-6. Emma Adams (2 singles) lost 0-6, 2-6. Hadley Schuler (3 singles) lost 1-6, 3-6. Maddie Von Uhl and Abbi Hipskind (1 doubles) lost 1-6, 3-6. Bridget Bailey and Emma Weaver (2 doubles) lost 1-6, 2-6. Coach Ford shared, “Many of our players have never played indoors before, and it can be difficult to adjust to a new environment in a matter of a few hours. Indoors, the balls tend to bounce much quicker than they do outdoors. Wabash was not able to account for this, and the timing for most of their shots were slightly off. Points also tend to be quicker indoors. This means that players have to be both aggressive and accurate from the get-go. Our girls tend to sit back and wait for an opportunity to be aggressive, which doesn’t work well playing indoors”. Wabash has a home match tonight at 5PM against Lewis Cass.
