The running Lady Apaches left early Saturday morning to race at the Manchester Invite. The conditions were perfect for a morning race. Stepping up to the line with 19 opposing teams, the Apaches fought through their first mile to get in through the dense packs. This made their approach into the second mile tough. Fighting to break through. the Apaches struggled to fill the gaps, but pursued the second mile with consistency across the team in their mile splits. Rounding the corner, the girls pressed hard into the last 200m and fought to cross the mats. Their efforts earn them 18th place as a team. First for the team was sophomore, Mia Fairchild, placing 61st, with a time of 22:02. Next up was our team senior, Ivy Beamer, with a career PR time of 22:35 and placing 77th overall. Following in behind Beamer was a junior, Haylee Friend, who came in 126th place with a time of 23:51. Close behind was (freshman) Mallory Tart with a season PR time of 24:01 in 131st place. Following Tart was Paula Alvarez, a sophomore, with a career opening time of 24:10. Alvarez took 138th place. Next was Josie Bailey, a sophomore, in 144th place with a career PR time of 24:25. Rounding out the Apaches was another junior, Maya Howard, with a time of 25:01. Howard finished in as the 154th individual. There were 184 runners in the race all together. The running Lady Apaches team finished their week with a battle of a race. With Eagle Classic up next, the Apaches are excited to compete next Saturday!
