Wabash Girls Varsity Soccer Win Over Blackford

The Wabash Lady Apaches pick up their 3rd strait win at home with a 2-0 victory over Blackford. Kait Honeycutt started in goal and then early in the 1st half Olivia Braun returned to goalkeeper for the 1st time since our jamboree to finish the remainder of the game. Honeycutt provided a great spark, having not played in the field all season, winning 50/50 balls and fantastic distribution for the Apaches. The first Wabash goal came off one of those passes from Honeycutt, with Brookelynn Buzzard putting it away with a beautiful touch over the keeper. The defense of Jaycee Jones, Samantha Walter, Logan Wright, Abbi Hipskind and Graci Napier were able to prevent Blackford from having quality scoring opportunities and both goalkeepers for the Lady Apaches didn't have to make any plays for the ball tonight. Wabash was able to keep the pressure on the entire game, with shots on goal coming from Buzzard, Napier, Wright and Colleena Meadows. Wabash found the back of the net in the 2nd half after a Blackford handball in the box allowed for a penalty kick. Wright was able to capitalize and put away the pk. Wabash improves to 7-5 on the season and continue playing at home, with their next game Wednesday at Alumni Field hosting Tri-Central.
