The running Lady Apaches came out victorious tonight at the Apache invite hosted on their home course. Knowing the course like the back of their hands, the girls knew that they had to mentally prepare for all of the uphill and downhill challenges. With weather finally cooperating after a long day of rain, the girls knew the course would be slick. The Apaches have a tough home course with over 5 mountainous hills and plenty of twists and turns. This meant that knowing the ground would be important to find the proper footing. Taking each stride with power, the girls fought through the race and came up with a solid team score! For the third year in a row, the lady Apaches won their home invite! First for the team was sophomore, Mia Fairchild, placing 2nd, with a time of 21:50 only 7 seconds from her PR. Next up was our team senior, Ivy Beamer, with a time of 23:53 and placing 5th overall. Following in behind Beamer was Maya Howard, with a career PR time of 23:54. Howard finished in as the 6th individual. Coming right behind her was a junior, Haylee Friend, who came in 7th place with a time of 25:12. Right behind her was Josie Bailey, a sophomore, in 8th place with a time of 25:34. Following close behind was Mallory Tart, with a time of 25:44.77 in 9th place. Hot on Tart’s heels was Paula Alvarez-Ibanez, a sophomore, with a time of 25:44.96. Alvarez-Ilbanez took 10th place and rounded out the Apache crew. The running Lady Apaches will be at it again next weekend to battle it out in the Three Rivers Conference.
