Apaches Win Eight Events; Finish 2nd In TRC Meet

The Wabash High School boys track team finished 2nd to a strong Manchester team in the TRC track meet on Friday evening. The Apaches put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell 122-109. Coleson Kugler was part of 4 events in which the Apaches won. He won the 100 in record breaking time, clocking a 10.86 breaking the 41 year old conference record of 10.9 held by Compton of Oak Hill. He also bested his own school record of 10.89 set last year. He then came back to win the 400, 200, and anchored the 4x4 relay to victory to close the door on an amazing night. Jonas Church was also part of 4 event victories for the Apaches. Jonas anchored the victorious 4x8 relay in the opening event of the meet, came back and won the 1600 with a blistering last lap clocking a 4:31.92, won the 800 by out kicking his competition down the homestretch, and led off the winning 4x4 relay. Isaiah Cordes won the 3200 by using a strong 2nd half of the race to outdistance the competition. His teammate Jace Bullins was 2nd, securing 18 points for the Apaches in the event. Other members of the conference champion 4x8 relay were Jace Bullins, Brett Shull, and Ezra Church. Members of the victorious 4x4 relay were Chase Howard and Caidan Burchett Other team members contributing to the team score were Braxten Beeks (6th in discus), Ezra Church (3rd in the 800), Caidan Burchett (3rd in the 1600), Chase Howard (7th in the 400), the 4x1 relay of Kristian Stanton, Preston Cantrell, Jarrett McWhirt, and Colin Patton, and Kristian Stanton (6th in pole vault).
