Saturday at the Wildcat Classic went from sunshine to dark skies as the Wabash Middle School girls took to the wet course with determination as the rain beat down. The race began with the Wabash girls stepping onto the line among 16 middle school teams. From the gun, the team settled into a smooth rhythm, careful not to go out too fast on the initial stretch. As the course consisted of flat ground and soggy turns, the girls maintained their speed. Their pacing paid off: while some competitors faded into the rain, Wabash held steady. The girls showed good form through the finish—heads up, arms pumping, and eyes focused on the line. Their efforts led to a strong 3rd place team score! Coming in first for the running Apache crew was 8th grader Teresina Cordes, taking 1st place overall and running a career PR and another school record breaking time of 11:07. Second for the team was 8th grader, Sutton Stoffel, running in with a career PR time of 12:34 and placing 12th overall. Following in was 7th grader AdaLynn (Grace) Jones with a season PR time of 13:11 and taking 20th place. Another orange and black runner flew in. 8th grader, Briar Stoffel, came running in with a career PR time of 13:45 and taking 33rd place. The next Apache was our 5th grader, Eva Sommers, with a career PR time of 14:51 and placing 64th as an individual. In her season debut run, 6th grader Isabella Scott ran a time of 15:34 and placed 77th overall. Next for the Apaches was a 5th grader, Ruby Cantrell, running in a career PR time of 15:44 and placing 80th. Following into the shoot was 7th grader Alexis Lynn with a season PR time of 15:51.
