Wabash Apaches Varsity Nabs Win Over Wawasee Despite Early 7-Run Inning

Wabash Apaches Varsity managed through a push by Wawasee in the fifth inning where Wabash Apaches Varsity coughed up seven runs, but Wabash Apaches Varsity still won 12-8 on Thursday. Dylan Stump, Dane Cripe, Kane Dukes, Logan Kessler, Hunter Fiedeke, and Reed Ridenbach each had RBIs in the big inning. Wabash Apaches Varsity collected six hits and Wawasee had six in the high-scoring affair. Wabash Apaches Varsity opened up scoring in the first inning, when Carter Booth singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Andrew Dillon led the Wabash Apaches Varsity to victory on the mound. Dillon allowed two hits and one run over three innings, striking out six. Jason Tait and Keaton Fields entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Ridenbach took the loss for Wawasee. The bulldog allowed four hits and eight runs over two innings, striking out three. Fields went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Wabash Apaches Varsity in hits. Wabash Apaches Varsity stole nine bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Fields led the way with two. Cripe led Wawasee with two hits in four at bats. Wawasee was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ridenbach had the most chances in the field with seven. Ty Brooks led Wawasee with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.
