Girls XC progresses at Zionsville Invite

The girls navigated the first and only 4K race of the season at Zionsville's John Cleland Invitational. The alternate distance is complimented by the meet's unique race structure of separating races by class. Freshman-Sophomore race The underclass squad finished seventh of 12 teams. Freshman Annie Dunford competed well up front to take seventh overall. Her 15:44 is the 21st fastest 4K in West Lafayette program history. Through the 2006 season, 4K was the standard girls XC distance in Indiana. Freshmen Charlotte Simpson (51st - 17:44) and Alivia Lewis (53rd - 17:47) were the second and third Red Devils across the finish line. Freshman Sarah Flesher (69th - 18:20) and sophomore Addie Gustus (88th - 18:54) stepped up to round out the team's scorers. Other top 10 Freshman-Sophomore finishers Annabelle Mullis (10) - 106th - 19:21 Maddie Boesch (10) - 140th - 20:49 Keya Poderycki (10) - 141st - 20:49 May Sandberg (9) - 161st - 21:48 Sehr Siddiqui (10) - 166th - 22:18 Junior-Senior race Following a weather delay, the upperclass squad placed sixth of 14 teams. Junior Henny Schminke (11th - 15:42) and senior Krisha Shah (18th - 16:19) competed aggressively in the top 20. Henny's 4K is now the 25th fastest in program history. Juniors Shannon Dineen (49th - 17:42), Bea Cabot (59th - 18:11), and Sophie Greenwell (68th - 18:28) rounded out scorers. Other top 10 Junior-Senior finishers Julia Cruz (12) - 82nd - 19:08 Grace Young (11) - 98th - 19:48 Laurie Antalis (11) - 130th - 21:01 Emi Leachman (11) - 138th - 21:40 Lauren Edwards (12) - 153rd - 23:16 Combining the results from both races, the girls placed sixth out of 15 teams. The girls are back in action Tuesday, 8/23 at the Harrison 8-Way Meet - hosted at the Tippecanoe County Amphitheater.
