West Lafayette Jr-Sr High School

The Junior High cross country team competed strong at Rensselaer on Saturday. The 8th grade boys defeated 9 teams and led the way with a team score of 48 points. Jinsoo Choi (3rd), Alex Eriksson (8th), Linden Xiang (13th), and Zak Koliantz (14th) lead the way and earned top 20 medals. Fyodor Areshkin and Shawn Meng each had 23 second personal bests. The 7th grade girls team lifted the trophy beating 7 teams with a score of 67 points. Ali Kalb led the way with 10th place finish and medal. Alexis Carroll had beat her previous best by over a minute and Kaaviya Karthikeyan scored a 37 second PR. The 8th grade girls finished 3rd of 9th places and were led by 3rd place finisher Erica Rogers. Erica ran under 12 minutes for the first time with a time of 11:57.64. Emily Zhou also earned a top 20 medal with her 13th place finish and a 39 second PR. The 7th grade boys finished 3rd of 12 teams and were led by top 20 medal finishers Max Rodriguez (4th) and Pierce Serratos (13th). Joseph Zhang, Thomas Weigel, and Elijah Pierce rounded out our top 5 and each scored big PR's. Matthew Sinfield and Sammy Smith each set a new personal best by over 1 minute each.
