Junior High Cross Country Paces the Way at Central Catholic Invite

The Junior High cross country team competed at the Central Catholic Invite on Thursday evening. The boys team finished in 1st place out of 16 teams with a score 51 points. They narrowly defeated Klondike by 1 point! Jinsoo Choi led the way for the Red Devils winning the race of 286 runners with a time of 10:44.9. Alex Ericsson also earned a top 10 medal with a time of 10:57.5, while Zak Koliantz, Max Rodriguez, Linden Xiang, Pierce Serratos, and Fyodor Areshkin rounded out the top 7 varsity. Sejoon Lee, Alex Liu, and Albert Jin each ran 30 seconds faster than their personal best, while Zach Barash ran over a minute faster than his previous best. Wesley Goodwine ran a 46 second personal record. The girls team finished in 2nd place of 16 teams with a score of 111 points. Erica Rogers led the way with a third place finish and a time of 11:59.8. Emily Zhou ran under 13 minutes for the first time and Lucia Neal and Rafa Moreno scored big PR's for the varsity team. Ilkay Irfanoglu ran a personal best by 47 seconds and Jillian Hanna and Amy Zhao each ran 23 seconds faster than their previous best.
