Nine Red Devils scored, including four in double figures, as 12th-ranked West Lafayette girls basketball defeated North Montgomery 89-18 on Dec. 13 at Berberian Gymnasium. Adrianne Tolen led the way with 20 points on 9 of 10 shooting from the field, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range. She also had seven rebounds, four assists and eight steals. Kennedy Martin – recognized before the game for becoming the sixth player in school history to score 1,000 career points – had 18, while Anne Karlaftis and Sarah Werth both tallied 10. Vivian Huston added nine points, Dylan Kastens eight, Izzy Ascarelli and Bree Johnson six apiece and Emma Weite two. Werth also handed out seven assists. The Red Devils (11-3) shot 67.2% from the field and forced 40 turnovers. West Lafayette scored 80-plus points for the second time this season, the first time it has had two such potent outputs since the 2015-16 campaign. The 89 points marked the most by the Red Devils since a 92-24 win at Frontier on Jan. 10, 2015. The JV won in two quarters of play, led by Izzy Ascarelli with six points and Ellie Wilcoxson with eight rebounds. The Devils are back in action Thursday, 12/15, at home against Hamilton Heights.
